Beatrice Dargavel being sworn, saith that 

I am the daughter of the deceased Agnes Craig Brownlie Dargavel, I reside in Collingwood Street Nelson I remember Tuesday 29th last. I was the only one at home with my mother, who was working in the kitchen, she endeavoring to evaporate some water from Kerosine [sic] which was in a preserving pan on the stove, I heard my mother call out Oh. I immediately came out of the room I was in, smelt smoke and on looking round saw my mother surrounded.
